a listing, then an estimate

How to treat a geolocation result

Why read the radius and not the pin?

A database that draws a point usually also states how far off the point may be. MaxMind, for one, says the true location is likely inside its accuracy circle, and gives 100 km as an example. A pin with a wide circle around it is a region, not an address.

Which database should I ask?

Accuracy, by the same vendor's account, varies by country, by distance and by the type of IP. Two services can therefore disagree about one IP, and only the one your target consults decides how your traffic is treated.

Can an IP show a street or household?

The vendor states that its data is never precise enough to identify a household, an individual or a street address. If a job depends on a street, no IP proxy, ours included, can promise it.

Does one check hold for the period?

The IP does not rotate. Whatever a database says about it in week one describes the IP you still hold in week four, though the database itself may revise its estimate between releases.

Questions on Lumina Broadband and geolocation

Who is Lumina Broadband?

ProxyJam does not describe the business behind Lumina Broadband. Our catalogue records a name, a price and the places the row is listed; we found no source we would cite for the business behind the name.

Where do you list Lumina Broadband?

ProxyJam lists Lumina Broadband here: Albany, Buffalo, Mount Vernon, New Rochelle, New York City, Niagara Falls, Rochester, Schenectady, Syracuse, Troy, Utica, White Plains. That is our listing, and a database is free to place the IP somewhere else.

Will a lookup put my IP in Buffalo?

ProxyJam does not promise that a lookup puts your IP in Buffalo. Picking Lumina Broadband is the whole of the choice; the IP is issued from that carrier's pool, and the city it surfaces in is not something we commit to, in any database.

Why might two lookup sites disagree?

Two geolocation sites can disagree about one ProxyJam IP because each one estimates. A leading vendor says it cannot guarantee full accuracy and that its accuracy varies with country, distance and the type of IP; different vendors estimate differently.

Can I pick a database that places the IP where I want?

With a ProxyJam IP you can choose which one you read; you cannot choose the one your target reads. Test the IP against the site that matters to you.

What if the placement does not suit me?

If the placement of your IP does not suit you, a first order can be refunded on request within 24 hours of purchase, once per customer and for up to 10 IPs, so test the placement straight away. Refund Policy

What does one IP cost?

A Lumina Broadband ISP proxy costs $5.38 for one month on the first rung, the starting figure every US carrier in our catalogue shares.

Does the IP change during the period?

No: your Lumina Broadband IP stays fixed until the period ends.
